LOVING GOMER
You might want to ask who Gomer is and why you are to love her.
The concept of this post is us loving like God the way he commands, not loving the way we want or the way we feel.
The story of Hosea in the Bible shows God's love towards us. The love God shows to us is way beyond emotions, it's a love that doesn't happen because of what the person (in this case you and I) have done.
The love of God is demonstrated in Hosea and different parts of the Bible and the love of God is described in 1 Corinthians 13.
I'm currently reading this book 'Redeeming Love ' by Francine Rivers and the book has given me a better understanding of what Christ meant when He said we should love. The story is equivalent to the story of Hosea in the Bible.
When I'm about take certain decisions, I try to weigh my love level. At times, to love at that time might not be convenient but I've learnt to let God lead.
God is love Himself so He has more than enough ability to show us love. The love God expects from us is one that might not be reciprocated, it's a love to the unloved and those resisting love.
At times I wonder how Jesus was patient with us on the cross. He had people who crucified Him yet He chose to love them still and die on the cross for them.
So when we're showing love, we do it first because the Holyspirit has poured love in our hearts. Secondly, we're enabled by love (God) to love. We are loving not necessarily because of what we'll get from the person but showing love regardless.
Stop loving people in the measure with which they love you because:
📌 You'll feel compelled to love the person because you want to pay back - and when you're not doing certain things for the person, you feel bad for not meeting up to the person's love standard.
📌 When the love the person is showing you or the thing you classify as the love the person is showing you is no longer there, you'll find it difficult to love that person.
📌 Understand what love is, who love is, before you can really show love. Love is more of actions than talking and emotions.
In all, to really love, you've to have LOVE Himself.

This is an awesome piece.
